Vela draga, only 20 minutes away from Opatija, is a realm of rocky verticals and towers in a beautiful natural ambiance of the canyon. No mater what your previous experiences or skills are, under the watchful eye of the instructors, you will experience and feel the charms and the challenges of free climbing and you'll be able to spend your in a way you'll most definitely like.
By its glorious and unusual ambiance, Vela draga attracts a great number of climbers that enjoy climbing its numerous rocks and vertical towers. With their activities throughout thousand years, the water and the wind have created many rocky cliffs and narrow towers spread all over the canyon.
An informative path with interpretation panels outlining the story on creation of the canyon, geological shapes, animal and plant world, history of climbing and the first climbers has been set up in Vela draga. All of this gives a special charm to this magnificent natural ambiance that makes us visit it time after time just to enjoy it all over again.
The trip lasts 4 – 6 hours and it is easy. An experienced guide, entrance to the nature park Učka, accident insurance and climbing equipment (climbing belt, ropes, protective helmet, climbing shoes and karabiners) can be provided. Minimal number of participants is 6 and it is possible from April to June and September – November. All the equipment you'll need is: sportsware and footware, back-pack and water.

The cliffs of Kamenjak, the sleepy beauty of Grobnik, are ideal for your first climbing steps and for getting to now this attractive sport. You can expect climbing directions with humble inclines. Reaching the top is a priceless satisfaction.
Kamenjak is a very popular climb training site. Apart from the attractive location, the view of the Grobnik field, the tops of so called „Grobnik Alps“ and the fact that all this is only 30 minutes from Opatija, Kamenjak stands out for its many easy and moderately difficult directions ideal in the first place to recreational climbers and those who are just discovering this popular sport.
With the help of the instructor, you will also be able to feel the freedom and indescribable satisfaction you get from free climbing. Besides the safe climb on the rock, correct use of the climbing equipment, among other you will learn to make knots used for climbing. It will come in handy, if not for climbing, than to tie up a tent or a boat or something else :-)

An experienced guide, accident insurance and climbing equipment (climbing belt, ropes, protective helmet, climbing shoes and karabiners) can be provided. The view of the sparkling bay of Rijeka and the neighboring Kamenjak rocks is breathtaking in its mix of colors, while on the western side the sun sets over the slopes of Ucka. You slowly achieve balance as you advance on the rock, enjoying the harmonious movements of your body. A sensation that many climbers dream of planing their future climbs. You don't have to be an experienced climber to experience this.
Vela Pesa, a place of a former Italian 2nd World war observation point is situated just below the Platak ski resort and it is a heaven of light climbing directions. Because of the diverse choice of directions, it presents the same pleasure for the begginers as it does for slightly more experienced climbers. The begginers will be especially pleased with less demanding directions on the left side of the rock. The hight of directions is up to 35 meters, with well arranged anchors and bolts.
The climb lasts 4 – 6 hours, it is easy and there should be at least 6 people in the group. An experienced guide, accident insurance and climbing equipment (climbing belt, ropes, protective helmet, climbing shoes and karabiners) can be provided. The best time for climbing is from May to June and from September to October. All the equipment you'll need is: sportsware and footware, sun hat and water.

This magnificent ambiance, nature's masterpiece and his high rocky verticals attract numerous visitors, mountain and free climbers form all over the world. So, it is no surprise that the canyon Velika Pakenica is known outside of the borders of Croatia. In Paklenica everyone can find a direction according to their own taste, weather it's a climbing veteran, a young climber or a begginer.
Besides climbing, in the National park Paklenica, you can enjoy a light walk to the Borisov dom ili a whole day trekking tour to some of the peeks in the park. Cave Manita pec and hidden bunkers burrid deep in the rock are some of the sight that might interest you. In Croatian the word Paklenica reminds of the word for hell = pakao, but the only time it can get remotely close to hell is in the summer months when it gets really hot, but even then National park Paklenica is a paradise for nature lovers.
This is a whole day excursion as the National park Paklenica is 2,5 hours drive from Opatija. An experienced guide, accident insurance, entrance to the National park Plitvice and climbing equipment (climbing belt, ropes, protective helmet, climbing shoes and karabiners) can be provided. The best time for visiting the park is from April to November.
