River Dobra is the second largest river in Gorski kotar. It unfolds east of Skrad from several smaller water courses, which are joined by Kamacnik at Vrbovsko. The Dobra valley consists of alternating gorges and expansions. Down the course, Dobra disappears only to reappear again ten kilometers away in the form of a powerful spring (Gojacka Dobra).

Meeting point is in Podumol in Gorski kotar,
about an 1,5 hour drive from Opatija. Aou should arrive to your
destination at 9:30. After a short break you continue to the river
front. For children younger than 12 we recommend to start the rafting after this part.

There where you will be instructed in regard to paddling, dangers encountered on the river and the appropriate course of action to be taken in case of falling off the boat and you will get all the necessary equipment. For the first 3 km Dobra is rich with rapids and waves and it can reach the IV+ category. The strongest rapid is Buk. For children younger than 12 we recommend to start the rafting after this part. For the remaining 8 km the rapids are easier, with calmer parts for swimming. The trip lasts 2 – 2,5 hours.

Necessary equipment:
Bring an extra T-shirt, bathing suit, a towel, extra pair of socks and a pair of dry footwear. All other necessary equipment will be ensured: boats – professional American Sotar rafting boats for up to 12 persons, paddles, waterproof bags, neoprene clothing, anorak in case of very cold and windy weather, life jacket, helmet, neoprene shoes. The participants will be accompanied by an experienced guide in charge training and safety and insured against accident.
