Opatija lays on the slopes of mountain Učka, that was, because of its natural and landscape characteristics, proclaimed a nature park in 1999. It is has a diversity of characteristics on a limited territory. Its surface is 160m2, and it is the destination of many outdoor sports lovers: mountain climbers, hikers, hang-gliders, paragliders, cyclists etc. Moreover, from its highest peak Vojak (1401 m), there is a fantastic view of Istria, Kvarner islands, Gorski kotar, Slovenian Alps and Italian Dolomits.

The word trekking derives from Afrikaans and it represents a long and tiresome walk. Surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful nature you will forget about all the physical strain of a trekking route and you will simply surrender yourself to the beauty of nature and trekking.

Enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery and
conquer the hill tops of Opatija and Rijeka hinterlands. Only 30
minutes from Opatija enter the world of wonderfully fresh air, grassy
hills and lovable forest creatures. Feast your eyes and soul, and for
the body we recommend local culinary delights and wines.
The climb to the Ucka mountain nature park lasts 6 – 7 hours. An experienced guide, entrance to the nature park Učka and accident insurance can be provided, and lunch including a wine tasting can be arranged. This trip is possible from March to November, and all the equippment you'll need are mountain climbing suitable clothes and footware, back-pack, trekking poles and water.

Hahlici, also know as „Grobnik Alps“ are a beautiful part of the west plate of Gorski kotar composed of many different peaks, and each tells its own story with appearance and attractiveness. Only half an hour from Opatija, wast meadows, thick forests and carst shapes are intertwined and breathtaking. Hahlici got their name from three miniscule lakes in the vicinity of the mountain lodge.
Hahlici climb is so beautiful because the path takes you across grassy planes overlooking Kvarner bay, the islands and the deeply indented Mudna dol canyon.
The path, partially marked, is beautiful and wild. There is the home of many wild animals, especially dear and mountain goats. If you're lucky you might see some of them gracefully and ably move over rocky slopes of the canyon or over scattered grassy hills.
It is a whole day moderately difficult trip for 6 or more peopole. An experienced guide and accident insurance can be provided, and lunch can be arranged. This hidden pearl of Grobnik, a particular attraction as you climb the magnificent ravine deeply indented in the mountain. In some places it is only two meters wide. Mudna dol is worth experiencing for the unexpectedly wild nature and an abundance of carst shapes. On the way up you can expect narrow and winding passages, stony water beds, big „pots“ shaped by the rapids and a curious mountain goat that from time to time observes you from vertical rocky ridges. And you wont only walk either, because there are also a couple of veirtical „jumps“ you'll have to conquer, so in some places trekking is combined with light climbing (really light).
