Windsurfing Pag bay

Research done from 1998 to 2001 has concluded that aout of 365 days in a year, there are 350 windy days on the island Pag. For surfers, the Pag bay is literaly heaven, a safe place with a number of chalenges that don't represent a threatening risk. During summer, around 3 o'clock n the afternoon a light wind is blowing, a maestral suitable for surfing, specially for the ones not prone to exibitions and fast rides. In the late afternoon hours the maestral wind gets stronger and it is possible to surf paster and even make a tour around the bay in one ride. Burin, the north wind is stronger than maestral and somewhat colder, and much more pleasant in the summer and it enables faster surfing. Reccommendation to the winsurfers is to avoide the channel that connects Pag bay to the Podvelebitski channel – the channel between island Pag and the mainland. In case of a storm, stringer north wind or tramontana wind that can start very strongly and suddenly, and it gets hard to get out of channel, even for experienced windsurfers.

Windsurfing Zrce beach

Zrce beach near Novalja on the island Pag is very suitable for windsurfing. Zrce beach is situated in Zrce bay, which is protcted from the big waves and too strong winds from the open sea. And since hills surrounding the bay aren't too high the wind from the mainland blowes over them gaining on speed as it reaches the sea, creating great windsurfing conditions. The wind surfing Novalja is best in the morning hours when a gentle tramontana wind blows. This time of the day is excellent for windsurfing beginners and recreational windsurfers as the wind is not very strong. The tramotana wind might not produce as much speed as the experienced windsurfers would like. In the afternoon hours the stronger north wind blows that enables faster windsurfing. Windsurfing courses for begginers and advanced windsurfers are organized and, also,  rental of windsurfing bords is possible on beach Zrce.
